Grant MacCusker Burnout, If you’re anything like the majority of entrepreneurs I have met over the past 15 years, it’s more than likely you are experiencing at least one of these four problems:

  1. Overworked: Credit it to you! Have you built a business that’s heavily founder reliant? Whether it’s sales, marketing, operations, delivery – but did you know you are most likely the bottleneck. The problem here is more growth = more work (and stress) for you as you have created it this way. With the right business model, the right team around you and more trust and ownership on your staff, the reverse should be true!
  2. Unknown: Your clients might think you’re great, or you’re friends might think the brand is great, they might refer you to their friends, but beyond that, you’re your own best kept secret. Word of mouth and referrals are great for getting started, but they won’t get you to where you want to go. The right marketing strategy is essential for expanding your brand beyond your inner circle. Don’t be shy in creating an amazing brand and be adventurous with it!
  3. No rewarded: 90% of business owners would be better off financially working in a job. It feels like everyone else gets paid first, and you’re left with, well, what’s left. But on reflection that is what happens when you start a business, if you pay yourself first and delay paying your staff, the likely hood is they will leave and you just open yourself up to a legal case.
  4. Burnout: At least 95% of business owners feel they have hit a brick wall. Working long hours and feeling like there is no reward at the end can always lead to Burnout. Making sure you have that balance of work, life and relax is key when running your own business.

It’s easy to feel like it’s almost impossible to dig yourself out of these holes. It’s exhausting and demoralising. The good news is there are simple strategies which, if implemented correctly, will help you overcome these problems for good and you are not the only one in this position, there are hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs all over the world in this same position.

Over the last decade I have ran businesses and also helped and mentored start up’s and fledgling entrepreneurs to achieve great results. The main thing with having a mentor is that they can guide you through the though times and also give you that support when you feel like giving up.

There are lots of places you can network, find mentors, business podcasts and many more ideas to help or chat with other like minded people.
